January 22, 2024 - Arrival Day

Nothing spoke to me more than the temperature change as AC 964 made its snowbird journey from Toronto to Kingston, Jamaica. The color change from white to green may come a close second - and yes I remembered to wear sunscreen by my window seat.

It was a hectic week of sleeping on the floor and getting my apartment ready to hand over to my landlord and I wanted nothing more than to sleep on a mattress tonight. After being welcomed by the wave of heat and porters at the ready, we made a quick pit stop to grab some essentials before I was greeted by my sweet accommodation for the next year.

I was introduced to the two mango trees and various coconut trees in the complex and eagerly journaled the date when the fruits would be ready for a sweet feast.

The inner Aussie in me was too proud to turn on the AC, but after realizing the ceiling fans (despite trying their best) would be inadequate for a good night's sleep, I gave in and flipped that switch on, and finally enjoyed a sleep on top of a mattress.
